When you eat food, your body converts it into sugar so that the cells of the
body can use it. All foods will be converted into sugar, but all foods are not
created equal.
Some foods (Low GI) slowly convert to sugar and this is beneficial for the
body. But other foods (High GI) convert more rapidly and this causes
problems.
When you eat something that converts rapidly into sugar, your
body produces a large amount of insulin and sends it to the blood. This
quick rise in insulin causes a massive hormone dump that makes you
break out.

Yikes. How do you know which foods to avoid?
A complete glycemic index
can be found online or in any health book. However, here’s a list of some of
the main foods you want to avoid:
● Potatoes
● Carrots
● White rice
● High fructose corn syrup
● Ripe bananas
● Instant Oatmeal
● Corn Pineapple
● White bread
● Commercial Wheat bread
● Corn
● Watermelon
● Raisins
● Pastries
● Cookies
● Candy
● And anything containing sugar
Some of the items on this list are pretty obvious: ice cream, cookies,
croissants, bagels, rice, and bread. But what about fruit, wheat bread, and
oatmeal?
Almost all fruit digests quickly, but some fruit converts more quickly than
others into blood sugar and should be eaten in moderation. Whole grain
wheat bread and oatmeal are good for you, but the bread and oatmeal you
have in your cupboard might not be the right kind.
Commercial whole wheat bread is so packed with high fructose corn syrup
and white flour that you might as well go for a muffin.
That instant oatmeal you cook in the microwave has been heavily
processed to create that ‘instant’ quality. Be sure to buy whole grain or
sprouted wheat bread free of syrups, sugars, and enriched flours and slow
cooking oatmeal (about 30-40 minutes).
In these forms, wheat bread and oatmeal are as good for you as you
always believed them to be.
